Pennsylvania’s Class of 2021 Top 200 Recruits Released; AHR and Kibe Top List
College Wrestling coaches love Pennsylvania and they won’t be disappointed in the Keystone State’s Class of 2021 recruits. Heading into their junior years of high school this list of 200 capitalized in the first half of their careers and will no doubt catch the attention of recruiters.
Heading off the list is 2-time PIAA State Champion Alejandro Herrera-Rondon of Seneca Valley. Last year he was ranked as high as #1 in the Nation at 113 pounds finishing second at Ironman and winning a POWERade title to close out 2018. He would go on to win his second straight Pennsylvania Class AAA State Championship. AHR, the #8 ranked wrestler on PA Power Wrestling Top Incoming Freshman of 2018 Report, has put on some size this off-season competing at 126 pounds in Fargo for Team PA where he took seventh place in the Cadet Freestyle Nationals.
#2 is Mifflin County’s Trey Kibe who was a PIAA State Champion in 2019 defeating Clayton Ulrey (Lower Dauphin) in the State Finals. In 2018, after qualifying for the PIAA State Tournament, he won a NHSCA Freshman Nationals Championship. He was 41-1 in his sophomore season taking third the POWERade and avenging his only defeat on the season by pinning Tyler Stoltzfus (St. Joseph’s Catholic).
Glendale superstar Brock McMillen entered high school with an impressive resume and a #3 ranking in the TIF of 2018 Report. He hasn’t disappointed in two seasons making the State Finals twice and coming away with a title in 2019. McMillen won a loaded 126 pound bracket in Hershey including a win in the finals over 3-time State Finalist Chase Shields (Bishop McDevitt). #4 on the list is one who catapulted his way into the Top 5 by virtue of an incredible Fargo Cadet Nationals performance. Stroudsburg’s Lenny Pinto won the 170 pound bracket in Freestyle and did it in dominating fashion. The District XI product followed his Freestyle title up with a second place finish in Greco-Roman. As a freshman he qualified for the PIAA State Tournament at 152 pounds where he went 1-2 falling to Luca Frinzi and Clayton Ulrey. His sophomore year was next level when he turned it on in Hershey. In December he lost to Nick Delp (Kiski Area) at the POWERade Tournament (6-3) and a month later he fell to Luke Nichter (Chambersburg) at the Escape The Rock (9-8). Fast forward to March and Pinto avenged both loses defeating Delp (10-4) and Nichter (11-4) at the State Tournament en route to a third place finish. His only defeat was to Edmond Ruth (Susquehanna Township).
Closing out a diverse Top 5 is Selinsgrove Area stud Nate Schon. The upper-weight entered #41 in the TIF of 2018 Report but quickly gained attention his rookie season when he pinned Hunter Catka (Sun Valley) in under a minute at his first high school competition. Catka avenged the defeat later that year in Hershey but Schon did find himself with an eighth place finish at 220 pounds. He moved up the podium as a sophomore, again at 220 pounds, when he captured the State Title in dominating fashion. He earned two falls and two major decisions, including a (14-1) win in the State finals, to earn his first title where returning State Champion Hunter Catka was third. The two did not meet but could be on a collision course in 2020.
