Weekend Round-Up
The wait is finally over. The 2011-2012 PIAA Wrestling season has begun. This past weekend marked the first competitions on the schedule for majority of schools across PA. Annual tournaments such as the Walsh-Jesuit Ironman, Williamsport Top Hat, and Solanco Mule Classic all took place this weekend. It was the first time the National Federation of High School’s new weight classes were used and more than one announcer sputtered out “Now wrestling on Mat 1 at 103, I mean 106 pounds…”
For Pennsylvania wrestlers this past weekend was business as usual, consisting of tough early season competition and individuals looking to improve upon or begin their high school wresting careers.
