State Runner-up Billy Barnes Transfers to Southern Columbia
2014 PIAA State Runner-up Billy Barnes has departed Williamson for fellow District 4 high school Southern Columbia Area. Barnes was a PIAA Class AA State Runner-up at 145 lbs. finishing the season with a (42-1) record as his only defeat came at the hands of Jason Nolf (Kittanning/Penn State) in the State finals by fall.
Barnes will be playing football for Southern Columbia this fall and joins an already talented wrestling squad. With Barnes the Tigers now have a total of four (4) returning PIAA State Runner-ups in the starting line-up. Sophomore Todd Lane was a PIAA State Runner-up in his rookie season at 120 lbs.; senior Kent Lane was a PIAA State Runner-up at 138 lbs.; and junior Blake Marks was a PIAA State Runner-up at 152 lbs. In total the Tigers return 11 wrestlers from 2014 who saw significant varsity action. Head coach Jerry Marks will have some holes to fill but with four of the top wrestlers in Class AA it will be tough to top the Tigers.
Billy Barnes enters his senior season at Southern Columbia Area with a career record of (108-11) and two PIAA State Medals.
