PIAA Approves 20-Wrestler State Brackets

The PIAA Board of Directors have approved an increase from 16 to 20 wrestler brackets at the PIAA State Tournament in all 14 weight classes. The move, which was pioneered by the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association, will take effect next season.

Another major change came as Class AA power Bethlehem Catholic was granted permission to compete in Class AAA. Bethlehem Catholic, who captured the last three PIAA Class AAA State Dual Team Championships, will bring a stud filled line-up to Class AAA and will make an immediate impact a class higher.
