Kittanning senior #1 Jason Nolf has more State Championships then he does career defeats. The Penn State recruit ended his career in dominating fashion with three falls at 145 lbs., including in the finals, and a major decision to cap his career record at (176-1). Nolf’s only career defeat came at the hands of Trinity’s Ryan Diehl during his sophomore season in the semifinals at 113 lbs.

 

 

Bethlehem Catholic senior #1 Zeke Moisey finally got a taste of PIAA Gold after finishing as the runner-up the past two seasons. The undefeated senior cruised to a (9-3) decision over #9 Josh Giorgio (Schuylkill Valley) at 126 lbs. and was joined by two teammates on top of the medal stand. Freshman and South East Regional fifth place finisher #7 Jake Reigel (BECA) avenged a defeat to #3 John Pipa (Bishop McDevitt) in last week’s SE Regional to come out on top (3-1) in his freshman season. Bethlehem Catholic sophomore #1 Luke Karam improved on a runner-up finish last season to grab the 113 lbs. PIAA State title over #8 Jon Gabriel (Bedford) in the finals (5-0).

 

 

 

Boiling Springs junior #2 Korbin Myers also got his first PIAA Gold Medal after a runner-up finish two seasons ago. The junior defeated freshman #3 Todd Lane (Southern Columbia Area) by decision (3-1). Hanover senior #1 Ian Brown ended his season undefeated downing #3 Kyle Shoop (Boiling Springs) for the fourth time this post-season by decision (7-0). Brookville Area senior #1 Brock Zacherl captured his long awaited PIAA State Championship after finishing in seventh and fourth the last two seasons. Zacherl defeated junior #7 Kent Lane (Southern Columbia Are) in the finals (8-1) to earn the PIAA Championship.

#1 Steve Edwards (Burrell) needed overtime to get past #4 Blake Marks (Southern Columbia Area) with a (7-5 SV) victory. It was an improvement for Edwards who placed sixth in 2013 and Marks who placed eighth last season. Undefeated senior #1 Kyle Bova (Coudersport) entered his second PIAA State Finals but this season left with the Championship medal with a (9-3) win over #4 Jared Walker (South Fayette). At 170 lbs. #1 Evan Delong (Kane Area) also ended his senior season undefeated earning a major decision (12-3) over #7 Nico Pecora (Richland). Again at 182 lbs. #2 Stephen Loiseau (Lancaster Catholic) capped his senior season undefeated by capturing his first PIAA State Championship defeating #5 Jose Ortiz (Bethlehem Catholic) score (4-0). Returning PIAA State runner-up #1 Tristan Sponseller (Bermudian Springs) captured his first career PIAA State Championship with a (9-1) major decision to end his senior season undefeated. For the fifth straight weight an undefeated senior captured a PIAA State Championship – this time at 220 lbs. as #1 Jake Temple (Avella Area) downed #3 Reynold Maines (West Branch) for the second straight week, this time a (3-1) decision. #1 Sam Breese (Lakeview) made it six straight weights as the senior won his second straight PIAA State Championship and ending his senior season undefeated.
