State Champion Sam Krivus drops to 126 lbs.

Returning PIAA Class AAA State Champion Sam Krivus (Hempfield Area) has made the drop to 126 lbs. for the post-season effectively causing the most talented regional weight-class in all of the State. Krivus, who suffered two defeats this season to fellow 2013 PIAA Class AAA State Champion Tyler Smith (Franklin Regional) at 132 lbs., will join State Runner-up Dalton Macri (Canon-McMilan) and 2x PIAA Medalist Dom Forys (North Allegheny) at 126 lbs. Returning PIAA Class AAA State Medalist and State semifinalist A.C. Headlee (Waynesburg Central) is right up there with the top three. Add talented juniors Philip Mary (Peters Township) and Dom Giannangeli (Franklin Regional) to the mix. Take a look at the credentials 126 lbs. will have to offer WPIAL fans…

In other moves around the WPIAL, returning PIAA State Champion Solomon Chishko (Canon-McMilan) will be competing at 145 lbs. for the post-season. Chishko was hit by the injury bug his last two seasons but will look to repeat as a State Champion in 2014. Kiski Area’s talented sophomore Tyler Worthing made the jump from 195 lbs. to 220 lbs. for the post-season, a move that places him atop the WPIAL Rankings at 220 lbs. Hempfield Area’s Ricky Cavallo has battled an injury all season long but is entered to compete at 120 lbs. for the post-season. Still missing in action is undefeated sophomore heavyweight Benji Kane (Shaler Area). Brackets for the four (4) WPIAL Sectional brackets can be found below.
