Burrell and Cumberland Valley Reverse Quarterfinal Results

Cumberland Valley Alex Smith Controls North Allegheny’s Jake Hinkson
Both Burrell and Cumberland Valley came into the PIAA State Tournament as District Champions but were upset in the Championship quarterfinals on Thursday by determined opponents.
Fast forward two days and on Saturday Burrell and Cumberland Valley both had the opportunity to reverse that result. Cumberland Valley, which had lost to North Allegheny in the quarterfinals 29-28, used a series of big wins including Alex Wolfe at 132 lbs. who downed freshman Jake Hinkson (3-0) after falling to the Tiger (5-3) on Thursday. In the end Cumberland Valley advanced to the Consolation Finals to set up a re-match with District 11 Champion Nazareth Area.
