State Team Duals First Round Complete Ft. LeBoeuf and Spring-Ford Win Big

After yet another winter storm moved across the Keystone State and postponed many of the preliminary dual meets – the first round results are in.

In Class AA District 10 runner-up #8 Fort LeBoeuf rolled to a 47-19 victory over WPIAL third place team #20 Jefferson Morgan. Ft. LeBoeuf moves on to face District 4 Champion #19 Towanda Area in the second round at the GIANT Center. District 3 runner-up #17 Hamburg Area outlasted District 6 runner-up #15 West Branch in a tight 34-33 victory. Hamburg moves on to face WPIAL Champion #7 Burrell in the second round.

District 11 runner-up #10 Saucon Valley advanced to the second round with a 39-24 victory over District 4 third place finisher #22 Wyalusing Valley Area. Saucon Valley will face District 10 Champion #4 Reynolds in the second round on Thursday. District 9 runner-up Redbank Valley won the final four bouts to secure an upset victory over District 10 third place team #13 Greenville 37-28. In the second round Redbank Valley will face District 3 Champion #2 Boiling Springs.

On Monday WPIAL third place finisher #6 North Allegheny followed up their win over 2 PIAA State Champions #8 Canon-McMillan with a decisive 72-6 over District 8 Champion Taylor Allderdice. North Allegheny moves on to face District 3 Champion #3 Cumberland Valley in what expects to be a close dual meet. For the second time this season District 11 runner-up #5 Parkland downed District 1 fourth place team #15 Garnet Valley. Parkland won 32-27 on January 4, 2014 and this time around made it a 35-20 margin. Parkland will face District 6 Champion #20 Central Mountain on Thursday at the GIANT Center.

District 1 runner-up #9 Spring-Ford was impressive as they picked up bonus points in five of their eight victories against #23 Exeter Township 39-19. In the highlight bout of the dual meet Exeter Twp. freshman Austin DeSanto held on to defeat Ryan Hayes (10-9 TB) in tie-breaker. Spring-Ford moves on to face District 12 Champion Father Judge in the second round. District 3 advanced third place finisher #21 Wilson West Lawn as the Bulldogs beat the District 1 third place finisher #14 Council Rock South in their own gym 30-26. Wilson will face WPIAL Champion #1 Franklin Regional in the second round.
