Nazareth needs Criteria to get past Parkland and BECA Rolls

Nazareth wins District 11 Class AAA wrestling team championship; Parkland also advances to states

Ricky Fornaciari had all kinds of reasons to believe he could help deliver a District 11 Class AAA team wrestling championship for Nazareth Area High School.

And it was indeed all up to the Blue Eagle sophomore.

“If I won, we won,” he said.

He did and so did Nazareth.

Fornaciari wrestled a smart, savvy and secure match at 170 pounds to defeat Billy Hoh 5-2 to clinch the Blue Eagles’ 29-28 win on the second criteria (most bouts won, 8-6) over Parkland in the championship match at Freedom High School.

Bethlehem Catholic dominates District 11 Class AA duals; Saucon Valley advances with ultimate qualifier win

The Saucon Valley High School wrestling team made its second straight championship-round appearance at the District 11 Class AA Duals today.

Past precedents would dictate the Panthers had earned a spot at next week’s PIAA State Dual Meet Championships. Even if they lost in the finals.

The top two finishers gain automatic bids.

Instead Saucon Valley needed to prove itself worthy by capturing the ‘true second place’ medal with a 49-22 win over North Schuylkill in the ultimate qualifier match, punching its ticket into Monday’s regional round of the tournament.
