The Kid Wins Ironman, Pletcher Downs Lizak, and More
Spencer Lee not only won the toughest tournament in the Nation – he dominated it. “The Kid” had his hand raised six times and the closest contest was a (12-2) major decision in the quarterfinals. The #1 ranked wrestler in the Nation at 113 lbs. recorded three technical-falls and two pins including a first period fall over Anthony Bosco (Illinois) in the Championship finals.
The other finalist for Pennsylvania was Lee’s teammate Michael Kemerer at 138 lbs. There the junior fell to Blair Academy’s stud Joey McKenna (3-1).
Overall Pennslyvania earned 12 Ironman Medals including PA natives who compete for Prep High Schools. State Champion Solomon Chishko (Canon-McMillan) was forced to default out of the tournament after falling in the semifinals. At 126 lbs. State runner-up Dalton Macri (Canon-McMillan) defeated fellow WPIAL wrestler and 2x PIAA State medalist Dom Forys (North Allegheny) by a score of (9-7).

In Mill Hall, PA many of the top ranked teams took part in the King of the Mountain Tournament. In one of the most anticipated bouts of the evening 2013 PIAA State Champions Luke Pletcher (Greater Latrobe) and Ethan Lizak (Parkland) met in the finals at 120 lbs. The match was a re-match from a season ago. In 2010 at the KOM Ethan Lizak downed Luke Pletcher (6-2) in the semifinals at 113 lbs. Pletcher would drop to 106 lbs. and win a State Championship and Lizak went on to win his second straight PIAA State Championship. This time however, Pletcher proved his move from 106 lbs. to 120 lbs. wasn’t an issue as he got revenge against Lizak winning (4-3 in TB). The closely contested match went into tiebreaker with the sophomore downing the senior.
In another exciting match-up senior 2x PIAA State Champion Jason Nolf (Kittaning) took on PIAA State runner-up Patrick Duggan (Cumberland Valley). Nolf only has one career defeat and that didn’t change in this tournament. In dominating fashion, Nolf showed why he is considered the top wrestler from PA, with a (22-8) major decision over the junior. Nolf was flawless racking up over 20 points on a formidable opponent in Duggan.
