Benton Area’s Zain Retherford is Penn State Bound
The biggest name in Pennsylvania wrestling this off-season Zain Retherford has committed to Penn State University. The recent World Cadet Freestyle Champion has been riding a wave of success since April 2012 and the Benton High School senior will aim to cap it all off with his second State Championship in three seasons.
According to Intermat.com, Retherford choose Penn State over Iowa, Oklahoma State and Lehigh. He projects to compete at 141 lbs. for the Nittany Lions and, with Cael Sanderson in his corner, the World Champion will be poised for success in the NCAA. Retherford is the second big name wrestler from Pennsylvania to stay in State at PSU, 2012 State Champion Matt McCutcheon (Kiski Area) also committed early last month.
