Four Pennsylvania Wrestlers Set to Compete in Times Square at Beat The Streets

NEW YORK – Four Pennsylvania grapplers are headed to Times Square in New York City to compete in the Beat The Streets Benefit featuring a main event between the USA and Japan.

A preliminary match between members of the New York Beat The Streets Club will face off with wrestlers from the Philadelphia Beat The Streets club. The matches will feature both women and men competitions from junior high and high school. Leading the way for BTS Philadelphia is famed club member Miles Lee from South Philadelphia High School. The senior qualified for his second straight PIAA State Tournament this season and came away with a fifth place medal.

The main event will be precluded with a special match-up between 4-time undefeated Oklahoma State Champion Daton Fix taking on 2-time Pennsylvania State Champion Julian Chlebove (Northampton). Originally slated Austin DeSanto withdrew yesterday due to an injury sustained at practice. Shortly after PA Power Wrestling broke the news that DeSanto could not go – Julian Chlebove stepped up and made it clear he would wrestle Fix a little more than 24 hours before the event.

The Main Event will feature the biggest names in USA Wrestling including Olympic Gold Medalists Jordan Burroughs and Kyle Snyder but also U.S. Open Champion Jordan Oliver (Easton) and 2-time NCAA Champion Zain Retherford (Benton). The two met at the U.S. Open  in Las Vegas with Oliver coming from behind to score the win and eventually the Championship.

In a special match-up outside of the USA vs. Japan dual meet Jordan Oliver will face 2015 UWW World Champion and 2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist Frank Chamizo of Italy at 65 kg. Chamizo is a stud who came to Italy by way of Cuba and has a ton of International Freestyle experience and accolades.

Retherford, also competing at 65 kg for Team USA, takes on Japan’s young talent Daichi Takatani. He was a 2011 Cadet World bronze medalist and a 2014 Junior World bronze medalist.

The event will be streamed live on Flo Wrestling here!
