20 Pennsylvania Wrestlers Named NWCA All-Academics

MANHEIM – Not only do they excel against their competition on the wrestling mat but some of Pennsylvania’s best NCAA Division I wrestlers dominate in the classroom. A total of 20 wrestlers from the Keystone State were named to the 2017 National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic list that showcases the Nation’s top performing student-athletes.

Of the 20 Pennsylvania wrestlers on the list a pair of National Champions from the Penn State Nittany Lions stand-out with Zain Retherford and Jason Nolf. Retherford (Benton Area), a Finance major at Penn State, went undefeated for the second season winning his second straight NCAA National Championship. Likewise redshirt sophomore Jason Nolf (Kittanning), a Kinesiology major, went undefeated at 157 lbs. en route to his first NCAA National Championship.

Others on the list include NCAA All-Americans Scotty Parker (Lehigh/Pennridge), Michael Kemerer (Iowa/Franklin Regional), and NCAA National Runner-up Ethan Lizak (Minnesota/Parkland).
