Franklin Regional sophomore Gus SOlomon moves from #15 to #2 at 126 lbs. in the latest State Rankings.

The biggest shake up in State Rankings has occurred following a wild week of Holiday Tournaments.

In Class AAA there were several changes including Council Rock South sophomore Riley Palmer moving into the #1 spot at 106 lbs. following yet another dominating performance at the Hurricane Classic in Bethlehem. Palmer is undefeated at (14-0) having won Championship titles at the Cumberland Valley Kick-Off, King of the Mountain, and Bethlehem Hurricane Classic.

At 113 lbs. junior Devin Schnupp (Warwick) surprised the State when he defeated 2014 PIAA State Runner-up Dan Moran (Northampton Area) in the semifinals of the Hurricane Classic. Schnupp went on to finish as the runner-up but moved up from #9 to #4 in the State. 120 Lbs. got a shake-up with 2x PIAA State Medalist Gage Curry (North Hills) dropping from 126 lbs. and taking over the #2 spot. Junior Tyshawn White (Central Dauphin) fell from #2 to #4 after sophomore KJ Fenstermacher (Bethlehem Liberty) won a tight (3-1 SV) overtime match over White. For his efforts Fenstermacher moves from #9 to #3.

In the loaded 126 lbs. weight-class the changes continue to happen. Council Rock South sophomore Zach Trampe takes over the #1 spot in the State remaining undefeated at (15-0). Trampe won the Bethlehem Hurricane Classic for his third Tournament Championship this season. The biggest mover, however, was Franklin Regional sophomore Gus Solomon who moved from #15 to #2 after yet another impressive performance at one of the Nation’s top Tournaments. Solomon, who placed fourth at the Walsh Ironman in early December, followed up with a runner-up finish at the POWERade Tournament. Solomon, who entered as unseeded, defeated former #3 State ranked Ethan McCoy (Greater Latrobe) in a wild tiebreaker match (2-0).

At 160 lbs. senior DJ Hollingshead (Altoona Area) jumped from #4 to #2 after placing third at the POWERade Tournament. At 182 lbs. James Buchanan senior Casey Glunt dropped from 197 lbs. and moved into the #2 spot as a returning PIAA State Medalist. Sophomore Colin McCracken (Waynesburg Central) moved from #13 to #7 after placing third at the POWERade Tournament.

In Class AA junior Aaron Burkett (Chestnut Ridge) dropped to 106 lbs. and moved into the #2 spot with a fourth place finish at the POWERade Tournament. Reynolds Freshman Cole Matthews impressed at the POWERade Tournament finishing in fifth place moving him from #18 to #5 in the State. Another big time freshman who made a large upward movement was Robbie Patrick (Ligonier Valley) who moved from Honorable Mention to #4 in the State at 145 lbs. Patrick won the Southmoreland Holiday Classic over former #6 ranked wrestler Gio Vonne Sanders (Jeannette). Southern Columbia’s Billy Barnes dropped from 160 lbs. and moved into the #1 spot at 152 lbs.
