Pennsylvania's Spencer Lee Set to Make Return to Mat at UNI Open

Spencer Lee is back. No, he didn’t travel to New Jersey to take on Rutgers Nick Suriano, his long-ago rival, but the Hawkeye true-freshman will be competing in the UNI Open today. It will be the first official competition Spencer will take part in since suffering his only high school defeat in the PIAA State Finals last March. Lee had surgery to repair a torn ACL that he had been dealing with throughout the post-season shortly after his career ended (Photo of Spencer Lee by Tony Hager of IAWrestle.com).

It would appear that Spencer is ahead of schedule on his ACL recovery as he takes to the mat on Saturday. The true freshman will compete unattached for the Hawkeyes on Saturday at 125 lbs. and his competition is unknown at this point but there are several Division I programs that will be sending unattached and normal starters to the Tournament. Below is a list of teams that TrackWrestling has listed as registered to compete.

Chances are the Iowa staff will be cautious with Spencer and not push his competition to the limits at the UNI Open and could possibly let him get just a few bouts under his belt. Stay dialed in to PA Power Wrestling for updates on how The Kid performs!
