Pennsylvania Advances 18 Into The Super 32 Quarterfinals

Pennsylvania Wrestling took their lumps during Day 1 of the 2016 Super 32 Challenge but overall the Keystone State had an impressive day with 18 wrestlers advancing into the Championship Quarterfinals. In addition to those 18 in the hunt for a Super 32 Challenge Belt there are 25 wrestlers still doing battle in the consolation round.

Canon McMillan junior Logan Macri turned heads at 113 lbs. as he advanced into the Quarterfinals knocking off several big names. PIAA State Champion Julian Chlebove (Northampton Area) earned several hard fought wins at 120 lbs. including a (6-4) battle with rookie Carson Manville (Virginia). Chlebove will face New Jersey’s Patrick Glory (Delbarton) who was a 2015 Beast of the East Champion and POWERade Runner-up. Chlebove’s teammate Dan Moran is in the quarterfinals at 126 lbs. in addition to 2015 Super 32 Runner-up Austin DeSanto (Exeter Township). Moran, ranked #18 in the Nation by Flo, takes on Joey Silva of Florida who is ranked #7 in the Nation by Flo and is the top seed in Greensboro. DeSanto, ranked #9 in the Nation by Flo, meets Elan Heard of Ohio.

Two Pennsylvania wrestlers will fight on Sunday for a spot in the semifinals with 2016 PIAA State Champion Brian Courtney (Athens Area) and 2x PIAA State Medalist Zack Trampe (Council Rock South). Trampe, who is #12 in the Nation, will have his hands full with #3 in the Nation Mitch Moore (Ohio) and Courtney will meet Franco Valdes of Florida. 2x PIAA State Medalist Sammy Sasso (Nazareth Area) cruised to a victory over 2016 PIAA State Third Place finisher Luke Kemerer (Hempfield Area).
