Final Tool CIty Results; Mulligan & Newell Win Fourth Championships

It was a historic night in Meadville, PA at the 39th Annual Tool City Tournament as seniors Cody Mulligan (Saegertown) and Louis Newell (Seneca Valley) become just the sixth and seventh wrestlers in tournament history to win four straight titles. #3 Louis Newell, a 3-time PIAA State Medalist and 2-time Finalist, won the 120 lbs. Championship with a (4-2) win over Fort LeBoeuf’s #9 Isaac Crowell. #1 Cody Mulligan, a 2017 PIAA State Champion, picked up three falls en route to the finals at 182 lbs. where he took down #4 Julian Gorring (8-1).

Seneca Valley won the team title with 244 points – 55 points ahead of second place team Boiling Springs. Seneca Valley had eleven medalists and three champions (Newell – 120, Montalbano – 145, Gross – 170 lbs.). Arguably the most dominant performance came at 113 lbs. as Shaler junior #1 Ryan Sullivan, a 2017 PIAA State Finalist, won the Championship title. Sullivan only wrestled a total of (5:26) in four matches grabbing three first period falls and tech-fall to claim the Championship.
